Charity Projects 2006-2007
Dryden Regional Health Centre Oncology Dept:  Contact person is Marg Wallis-Zarecki and Kathy Doherty.  Requests for personal lap quilts for current patients, 1 male and 2 female.  These should have personalized labels attached.  Sharon Timson has offered to quilt the lap quilts when they are ready.   There is also a need for Chemo Turbans made from soft fabric such as fleece, or brushed cotton.
Mennonite Central Committee:  Contact person is Theresa Bousfield.  Construction of School Bags and Health Bags, fabric was donated by a friend of Theresa's and will be supplied.  Pattern can be obtained at the following link.  If you feel that you would like to fill the bag with the needed items, a list is also available at the following link

Hoshizaki House:  Contact person is Sharon Sapay. Quilts needed in twin and baby size.  Both for adults and children, most clients arrive with nothing.  A quilt would be very comforting for them.
EMS/Police:  Contact person is Barb Avanthey.  The Dryden Police and Ambulance service are both in need of 2-3 childrens size quilts.
 
National Quilt Auction:  Contact person is Karen Greaves.  Quilts of any size including wall hangings would be put online for bidding and the funds raised will returned to the  Cancer Society in the area the quilts originated.  Karen will look into this for Nov. 2007.
 
OSPCA: Contact person is Hellen Stafford.  Members are challenged to make dog and cat bedding.  Use a pillow case and divide into 3 columns and throw all your fabric scraps into it. When full sew up the top and you have bedding.  Make sure the bedding is no thicker than 2", Dog bedding size is 24"x28" Large Crate, Cat bedding size is 15"x24" Small Crate.  The OSPCA can also use towels, blankets and sheets to cover crates to calm the amimals and keep barking to a minimum.
