SUNSET COUNTRY QUILTERS’ GUILD


MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Sunset Country Quilters’ Guild held Tuesday, November 27, 2007.

The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Marg at 7 p.m.  There were 23 members and 2 guests present.

Motion by Joan seconded by Sharon that the minutes of the meeting held October 23, 2007, be adopted as circulated.  Carried.

Marg introduced Trent  from Skillen Squire Insurance who was present to talk to the group about insurance coverage.  Bev  accompanied  Mr. Kujansuu.
Trent began by noting that the policy carried by the Guild provided coverage up to one million dollars.  The policy covers such items as damage to buildings and property occupied by the Guild and accidents to visitors at events sponsored by the Guild.   After answering questions posed by members Mr. Kujansuu left the meeting.

Motion by Myrna  seconded by Bev that the Guild pay for insurance coverage.  Carried.

Treasurer Hellen  noted that Sharon  has reviewed the financial records.
Sharon reported that the books were correct and in order.

Quilt Show meeting: Roberta reported that plans are proceeding nicely, entrance fee  Adults  $5.00, Children $3.00.  There will be a banquet on Saturday nite, Standards have been reserved from Sioux Lookout.

Paper Bag Items:  Many interesting items were turned in by members, these items will be sold in the boutique at the show. Prizes were awarded to four lucky members for their efforts. - Hellen, Bev, Roberta and Nell.

Sewing Saturday, October 20 was well attended  and enjoyed by all.

December 1, - Personal projects
January 26,   - I Spy Kits and sewing caddy, taught by Marg
March 1, - TBA
March 29, - Boutique items

Several members handed in their completed Magic 9 Patches.

Christmas Party:  December 11, at 6:30 p.m.  Bring a savory or sweet. There will be an optional gift exchange .  a purchased or made item, - value to a maximum of $10.00, placed in a brown paper bag which may be decorated or not.
There will be an optional star block exchange.  The block should have a blue background with a yellow star and may be any size as long as the “finished “ size is divisable by two.
Actual size should have a half inch seam allowance. ie  ¼ “ on each side.

50/50 Draw - won by Gwen.

Show and Tell - as always, many beautiful items.

Fran presented a talk on paper piecing, giving some good tips on how to avoid problems.
