REMINDER:
Quilt Show planning meeting (open to all!) Tuesday, Feb 5, 6:30 @ Kathy's, 6 Bertha Pl.
12 weeks to go!!

NOTICE:
Kathy D. and Barb A. have booked Linda Clark of "Born to Quilt" (Kenora) for our sewing day on March 1st. She will teach machine quilting. Linda will take as many as 20 participants and we would charge each one $20.00 for the course plus bring a pot luck. This should cover Linda's costs and the cost of the hall for the day. Attendee's should be there by 9:00 am for set-up and the class will start at 9:30 am and run to about 4-4:30 pm. A supply list for the Machine Quilting class is attached. Let Hellen  staffnh@drytel.net know if you are planning to attend.

In answer to "How do I transfer the pattern design onto my muslin?" Linda suggests:
"Since this is just an exercise and not a show quilt, the marking method doesn't matter all that much. I will cover different marking tools and techniques in the class. If you have a light table, place the pattern on the light table and the muslin on top and trace the design with a blue water erase marker, or pencil (mechanical pencil with a hard lead, 2H...like the Ultimate Marking Pencil)...if you don't have a light table, use a window in daytime, or a glass top table with a lamp under it. Or you can put tracing paper between the pattern and the muslin and trace the design with a rounded tip object like a stylus used for embossing, even a ball point pen will do. (Of course, the best tracing paper to use is one without wax in it...not the usual dressmaker's paper, but graphite paper, or Chacopy, or other waxless varieties...but, as I said, it's an exercise, so use what you have or what is readily available.) Just transfer the design so you can practice quilting, we won't worry about removing the marks."

Next General Meeting: Tuesday, Feb 19, 6:30 pm. Special Valentine's event - see minutes!
